Stephen has an acute interest in people and organisational psychology, what makes people tick, react and act in times of pressure and change. It is this passion and knowledge that helps clients navigate the strategic and financial imperatives of an assignment, and the personal impacts and challenges that are faced along the way.
Stephen’s professional background in law, psychology and business spans 30 years. He has advised and consulted extensively across Australia, Asia, the US and Europe to multi-nationals, fast growing enterprises and start-ups. He is an expert corporate adviser who has held leadership roles within international consulting firms.
Stephen‘s specialisation is managing change in professional services firms. He has managed and led company sales, combinations, acquisitions and mergers with PwC, Aptech, IBM, CapGemini and Cardno International. He has advised on, or led, more than 30 sell side and 20 buy side mandates in the professional services sector.
Stephen is recognised as a leader in the legal sector where he has helped partnerships reshape, adapt and flourish. He has advised seven international law firms on their entry into Australia and the Asia Pacific region. He also advised both Freehills and Clayton Utz in their nationalisation process. He also backed and advised AdventBalance, now Lawyers on Demand (LOD), in their start up as a legal services disruptor. With a passion for the sustainability of the sector, and for the development of future leaders, Stephen is now Chairman of “future law” technology firm Crowd & Co.
Stephen’s academic work in Jungian psychology has been published extensively and he regularly speaks at conferences on the interface of psychology and commercial enterprise. Stephen is a member of the Amnesty International 2020 Council; Chairman of an analytical psychology institute in Europe and Chairman of the Desmond Tutu backed Arch Institute for international programs in governance and social policy.
